| Oil Leak from the front crank seal. |
Seal replaced by removing the crank
pulley. The new seal was then drawn into place using the pulley bolt, a
piece of plastic pipe and a large washer. It is possible to push the new
seal all the way through into the timing case if you're not careful. |

also available from your Ford dealer. Though not mine apparently !!! |
| No Head rests ! |
Pair of beige headrests for a Triumph
Dolomite were bought on ebay.
I then painted these with Vinyl paint to match the
interior. This is the same stuff I used to restore the interior of my 5a.
Pictures on the right are before and after.
Update Just
managed to acquire some original headrests in blue. So the DIY ones have now
been replaced. |

| Another Oil Leak |
Removed timing cover and replaced all
gaskets and seals. Tip :- If you break the sump gasket during removal, cut a
piece from a new gasket and seal the gap with gasket compound, easier than
removing the sump. |

| Heads unsuitable for unleaded fuel. |
Bought a set of heads that have been
converted. They have new stem seals, bronze guides and have had new valve
seats pressed in. Valves have either been replaced or reground. I've yet to
fit them though ! Update Didn't get round to fitting these so I've sold them on. I now plan to
do a 2.9 conversion as soon as I can find a good donor Granada. |

| Jaguar XJS electric Mirrors |
As the car was originally
supplied with only one mirror (drivers side) and a matching passenger
side one is no longer available, I decided to fit a pair of
electrically operated mirrors from a Jaguar XJS. I also acquired an XJS
switch which has been mounted vertically on the door card. |

| Heated Windscreen |
A group of Scimitar owners got together
and had some heated front screens manufactured for the SE5/6/8. This seamed
like a good idea to me so I ordered one, it's still in the box and will be
fitted once I've got round to getting the car painted. I've had a wiring
harness made up by a club member to help with fitting. |

| Alloy
Rocker Covers |
The
pressed steel original rocker covers are prone to leaking due to their
flexibility. These covers were
rubbed down and cleaned, then sprayed with metalic blue paint |

Capillary Temperature Gauge |
A new
water outlet housing from a 2.3 engine was sourced. This was machined flat
and drilled to allow the capillary sender to be positioned. The gauge was
then located in the dash board where the clock should be. I have a digital
clock on the radio display so the smiths original was only used to flatten
the battery when the car was sat in the garage !! |
